This is a web diary (kept by me, Richard) of our Family holiday in November 2001. The diary is mine and represents my view of the holiday and was kept at the time. There was just the three of us; Pauline, myself and Alice (5). We went to Singapore (and stayed with my sister, Alison, who was living there at the time) and then onto Cambodia and Vietnam. It was a great holiday, but I found the first week in Vietnam rather trying as we were only just getting used to the country. Travelling with a 5 year old also made a surprising difference. Some people had commented that they found Vietnamese people a bit aloof, but we found people to be uniformly warm and welcoming. I suspect that having a small child helped break the ice.
To use this site you can click on the
button to show the map index at any time. The Cambodia page also includes the
button, which displays a map of the Angkor Wat area. The maps are clickable,
so you can just point to the area you want and click on it to see if there
is any pertinant information. If you allow the mouse to "hover"
over areas on the map it will provide a small amount of infomation if the
area is clickable.
This little web site works best with style sheet compliant browsers (ie. most recent browsers). I personally recommend Mozilla. You may have some trouble if you have set up your default fonts sizes to a large size.
